IKOR at the Presentation of the Electromobility Centre of Gipuzkoa. Last Tuesday we had the opportunity to attend the Presentation of the Electromobility Centre of Gipuzkoa. A project that is born with the objective of promoting collaboration between the public administration, companies and agents of the sector, to generate knowledge, new technological developments and new economic activity that will materialize in 2021.

The Electromobility Centre seeks to turn Guipuzkoa into an international industrial reference in electric mobility and energy storage. The centre will be located in an environment that will be configured with the vocation of becoming a pole of innovation and knowledge linked to electromobility.

The MUBIL project has been working within the framework of the Provincial Council's Etorkizuna Eraikiz programme and deals with an action contemplated in the Gipuzkoa Sustainable Mobility Strategy agreed and presented by some 40 companies, centres, associations and public entities in the sector. Its materialisation is promoted by the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa and with the support of the Donostia Town Council and the Basque Government through the Basque Energy Entity.

Its mission will be to generate resources and bring together the capacities of the territory to make it "an industrial benchmark in electrical mobility on the international scene".

The MUBIL centre has an energy storage testing laboratory and will be the heart of the centre, which will be accessible to companies and technology centres for the development of research and electromobility and storage products. It will pay special attention to technologies and capacities in infrastructures for recharging, integration and testing of the electric vehicle.

Secondly, the Centre will have a space dedicated to knowledge and talent, which will act as a global observatory of the latest trends in the sector and support the training of new technical-professional profiles that demand the transformation of mobility.

Thirdly, MUBIL will have a nucleus for the promotion of entrepreneurship and new business initiatives.

Finally, personalised attention will be offered to companies and centres so that they can test their products throughout Gipuzkoa, turning the territory into an authentic Living Lab of electromobility. In addition, around the centre, an area of 48,000 square metres will be reserved with the aim of attracting business activity that generates a pole of innovation and industrial production linked to electromobility.
